‘About Face’ is an exhibition of paintings and graphics that explores artistic subjects from peasant scenes to portraiture that resonate with the contemporaneous production of portraits by Vincent van Gogh during the late 19th-century. Organised to coincide with the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s exhibition ‘Van Gogh: Face to Face’, this exhibition demonstrates the artistic climate in which van Gogh painted his most famous portraits. ‘About Face’ features the artwork of such leading American artists as Cecilia Beaux, Mary Cassatt, Thomas Eakins and Elihu Vedder.
